Penrith
Plaza Shopping Centre [click for datasheet] KAE undertook the mechanical service design for this major shopping centre expansion at Penrith. Mechanical value approximately $6.0M The shopping centre expansion includes for a multi storey shopping centre with typical tenancies fronting onto an open street. In addition the centre includes for major stores, food courts, loading dock, food tenancies, amenities etc. The centre is atop a 364 car underground car park. KAE undertook a CFD analysis to enable an engineered design solution deleting significant riser and ductwork requirements. The design allows for a virtually ductwork free car park. The mechanical plant comprises central chilled water cooling plant (chillers, towers etc) serving distributed air handling units. Significant energy saving measures have been incorporated into the design. The main project design requirement was for low energy consumption. The design allows for the following energy saving initiatives:
Chatswood Interchange [click for datasheet] KAE undertook the services design for the retail component of this development (Mechanical, Electrical, Fire, Hydraulics and ESD). The retail area totalling circa 14,000 sq,m floor area. The environmental factors associated with this project including large openings, wind egress, large glazed sky light etc provided many challenges which KAE overcame. The centre comprises 3 levels of air conditioned tenancies fronting a naturally ventilated mall. The top floor comprises a large air conditioned food hall and other large format tenancies.
Stocklands Wetherill Park Shopping Centre
KAE undertook all services design for the remedial works at this Stocklands Shopping centre. The existing centre had over heating issues associated with large sky lights in the mall areas and food court area. As part of KAE's design, new air conditioning was installed together with modern controls to reduce energy consumption. Energy Reduction measures included:
An important factor in the design was to minimise works within the center i.e. not impact on trading.
Stocklands - The Pines Shopping Centre - Melbourne
Stockland selected KAE, as their preferred consultant, to undertake a services overhaul for this shopping centre. The centre comprises 20,000 sq.m of retail with Target, Safeway's, Coles and Aldi forming the major tenants. KAE undertook Mechanical, ESD, Electrical and Structural design services for this project. The summary scope of works is as follows:
Project Highlight The highlight of this project was the opportunity to holistically review the issues with the existing shopping centre (internal environment) and provide a comprehensive solution covering the building façade, zoning, controls, air conditioning etc, to provide the client with a long term solution. Stocklands are to be commended for undertaking a thorough review and upgrade of this centre.
Forestway Shopping Centre 1 The design provided for central plant chillers with associated cooling towers, serving distributed air handling plant. Air was delivered to the centre via ducted constant volume and variable volume air handling systems. Mechanical Value: Approximately $4,000,000 Forestway Shopping Centre 2 Coles Stores KAE staff have extensive Coles store experience in all services & have undertaken in excess of 25 store refurbishments. KAE provided design and documentation, for all services, for a new Woolworths store located within the existing water board building, located in Chatswood CBD. The services designs complied with Woolworths Environmental Strategy polices and the requirements of the local council. 110 – 112 The Corso, Manly The design provided for specific lighting, power and data provisions to accommodate the functioning and particular Audi layout of the showroom as well as security and fire services. The project also required an important upgrade of the incoming supply to serve the proposed showroom. KAE provided all negotiations on behalf of the client with the supply authority. Warringah Mall Redevelopment ELECTRICAL Forestway Shopping Centre 1 The design provided for general power and lighting upgrade and new power, security and lighting documentation for a new mini major store. This project also required careful augmentation of the existing centres main switchboard and incoming power supplies to allow for the upgrade of the centres anchor store (Woolworths) which included new central plant etc without loss of supply to the centre. As part of the upgrade KAE provided a new electrical kiosk to the shopping centre and undertook all negotiations on behalf of the client with the supply authority. Coles Stores This work involves site inspections and reporting on various aspects of services including code and Coles standards compliance and ability to adapt existing services for future store expansion. KAE staff have extensive Coles store experience in all services & have undertaken in excess of 25 store refurbishments. 110 - 112 The Corso, Manly HYDRAULICS / FIRE

ACOUSTICS Penrith

In addition the centre includes for mini major stores, food courts, loading dock, food tenancies, amenities etc. The centre is atop a 364 car underground car park. KAE undertook CFD analysis to enable an engineered design solution deleting significant riser and ductwork requirements. The acoustic treatment for this centre included the detailed evaluation of noise emitted from the services design to meet the stringent council consent conditions. Similar work was recently completed for new shopping centre complexes at Mona Vale and South Wagga Wagga. We have been involved in providing acoustic design solutions and council construction certification reports for numerous Coles and Woolworths stores throughout the state. STRUCTURAL
