KAE Residential Design Guide
The KAE residential design guide has been developed during the course of many years experience on large scale residential projects, and comprehensively covers appropriate system selection, early planning of plant spatial requirements, mechanical riser shaft requirements, etc. The guide is under continuous review and development to reflect current industry trends and the outcome of various third party quality assurance exercises in which we have an involvement.

Building Diagnostics/Rectification
KAE often provides independent Engineer advice on rectification of faulty installations. This role encompasses redesign, over seeing the contractor’s installation and performance testing and documentation to meet insurer’s requirements.

Aged Housing at 138 Killeaton Street , St. Ives (KAE)
KAE undertook the mechanical and electrical services design for this project.

The project comprises a 82 dwelling SEPP 5 housing development located on a 23,000m² site at 138 Killeaton Street , St Ives. There are 20 off 2 storey town houses and 61 off apartments arranged in 4 blocks.

Regatta Wharf Development (KAE) - 4 No. off 14 storey residential tower buildings
KAE undertook a detailed quality assurance checking role on behalf of BLL for 4 residential apartment buildings. The checks have involved computerised heat loads, condenser water system sizing checks, cable sizing checks, installation checks, air conditioning unit performance checks etc.

Meriwa & McIntyre Project, Gordon (Mechanical & Electrical) - 12 storey residential development
KAE undertook the services design for this prestigious two apartment block development in Gordon. The development comprises approximately 130 apartments, town houses, swimming pools, gymnasiums and other associated areas. Each tower is a stand alone project and will be air conditioned via condenser water systems serving individual room located water cooled AC units. New power will be brought onto the site via two new HV supplies and kiosk sub stations. Stair pressurisation will also be provided to many of the stair systems throughout the project. Natural air supply will be incorporated by careful design to many of the underground car park levels.

644 Botany Road (148 unit development with underground car parks) - 6 storey residential building (KAE)
KAE undertook the detailed design for mechanical services for this project, including car park ventilation, toilet ventilation and miscellaneous ventilation.

In addition detailed design of air conditioning for the ground floor retail area along with kitchen exhaust provisions was undertaken.

Waterloo Project (KAE) – 6 storey residential building
Design of mechanical ventilation systems, including AS1668 essential services, for mechanical services.

North Apartments (KAE) 20 storey high rise apartment building, located at Goulburn Street, Sydney City
KAE undertook the D& C design (mechanical services) for this prestigious high rise apartment building, located at Goulburn Street, Sydney City.

The documentation covers air conditioning to all areas (including apartments, gymnasium, swimming pool etc), kitchen exhaust systems, toilet exhaust, stair pressurisation, car park exhaust etc.

Air conditioning is provided by apartment located air conditioning units with heat rejection provided by roof top located cooling towers and associated condenser water pipe work system.

Kirribilli Apartment – Air conditioning and ventilation (KAE)
KAE undertook the air conditioning design for this multi million dollar waterfront apartment. The design allowed for the many varied thermal zones within the apartment and control operational modes.

Architecturally acceptable air devices (swirl diffusers/jet diffusers etc were utilised throughout the apartment.

10 – 12 Cooper Street , Double Bay (KAE)
KAE undertook the air conditioning and acoustic design for this 4 apartment development. The main design issue for this project was compliance with Woollahra Council noise requirements. This involved modification of industry standard air conditioning units to accept remote fans due to additional acoustic treatment.

Moore Park Gardens Stage 4, Alexandria – design of mechanical ventilation systems, including AS1668 essential services, for 14 storey residential building;

The Aston, 1 Hosking Place, Sydney - design of water cooled packaged A/C system and mechanical ventilation systems for 25 storey residential tower building;

Wondakiah Residential Development, Wollstonecraft - design of water cooled packaged A/C systems and mechanical ventilation systems for 4 No. off 10 – 12 storey residential tower buildings.

Randwick Apartments (KAE)

 

Emu Plains Juvenile Correctional Centre

KAE provided Mechanical & Electrical services for this project.

The design catered for the needs of the occupant’s safety & comfort.
Fittings and equipment were vandal proof and self harm proof.

During the works (major electrical & mechanical services upgrade) the Centre was maintained operational.

The design fully satisfied the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ)
accommodation standards.

The electrical services including lighting, communications, security and power were carefully designed to meet the security and safety standards required by DJJ, incorporating the use of vandal proof outlets and lights.

Other electrical works include a new substation and a diesel backup generator to the site.

The mechanical services included all new air conditioning to accommodation blocks.

 

Penshurst Street – Supervised Living

KAE provided Mechanical & Electrical services for this project.

The project comprises of a new development by Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) which consists of 5 living villas, staff villa and 2 garages.

Electrical works included the specific lighting, power, communications, fire and security design and documentation in accordance with the standards by DADHC and Department of Commerce.

The design catered for the needs of the occupants safety & comfort. Fittings and equipment were vandal and self harm proof.
