BCA Section 'J'
KE provides compliance checking for BCA Section J. This is vital to new projects since circa October 2006. Section ‘J’ aims to incorporate minimum energy enhancements via the BCA (i.e. you must comply).
Typically are services will check and evaluate all disciplines designs to ensure compliance.
Items effected are:
- Lighting efficiency
- Air condition Efficiency
- Provision of shading
- Provision of ventilation flow paths
- Lighting & air conditioning controls
- Minimum fabric performances including glazing
- Building sealing requirements
- etc

Section J: Energy Efficiency
Section JV: Annual Energy Consumption Calculation
JV1: Verification using stated value for sole occupancy unit of a class 2 or class 4 part building. Verify via thermal calculation model that complies with ABCB Protocol for House Energy Rating Software.
JV2: Verification using stated value (applicable class 3, 5, 6, 8, 9a, 9b, 9c buildings). Annual energy consumption must comply with table JV2.
JV3: Verification using reference building (See section JV for reference building data)
